Make your own Secchi-disk
- About 10 meters of rope or cord
- A 1-2- kg's plummet
(e.g. a stone)
- A round, white, waterproof disk of 30 cm's diameter (e.g. a bucket lid)
This is how you make a Secchi-disk:
- Drill a hole to your disk.
- Thread your rope or cord through the hole.
- Attach your plummet on the other side of the disk and the rope or thread on the other.
- Make a measuring scale by tying knots to your rope every 50 cm’s.
- Start making visibility depth measurements.
